Never Retire
For Stan Johnson, vegetables are not only healthy to eat but are healthy for his spirit. He has worked in the produce business for over 40 years and has never stopped loving it. Stan, who turns 77 on October 3rd, has followed his passion and has no plans for giving it up.
Stan began his career with a local farm business in 1956. After 18 years, he moved on to become produce manager at a local, family owned grocery store. When the store closed, Stan decided “he would never retire”. He approached Pete’s Produce Farm, Westtown, PA, to see if he could keep working with the farm products he loves.
Pete’s Produce Farm is fortunate to have Stan not only for his extensive knowledge of fruits and vegetables but for the forever smile on his face and genuine appeal to the customers. Since Pete’s is open for six months of the year, Stan can make time for other activities, or as he puts it “his honeydew list.”
Stan shares his secret for Healthy Aging, “keep active and do what you like. “
