Tip of the Week: October 18, 2010 - Light therapy might help depression
- 10-17-2010
- Categorized in: TIP OF THE WEEK
Many older people suffer from depression. The NIH estimates that of the 35 million over 65, 2 million suffer from full-blown depression and some 5 million suffer from some form of it. The numbers are probably higher in states that have prolonged winters with limited number of hours of sunshine. (Oregon, Maine, Ohio etc.) Even those in some Southern states suffer. A tip to beat that depression and increase mental fitness levels? Increase the amount of time you are in the daylight or consider the use of a light box, such as Bright Light Therapy.
